Good/Bad/Uncertain: Statistically-speaking, most breast biopsies are benign, requiring no further rx. Of course, the purpose of the biopsy is to be certain that no cancer is present; unfortunately, this is found 15-30% of the time. Sometimes, the pathologists will need more tissue to be certain, leading to performance of a surgical biopsy; happily, this is the exception rather than the rule. Good luck!

Benign atypia cance: Results of breast biopsy can be benign breast disease like fibrocystic changes for which no further treatment is required. Cancer for which lumpectomy or mastectomy is performed depending on factors specific to each patient. When atypia is present, the surgeon typically excises the lesions to see if there is any additional undetected foci of invasive cancer.
