4-9 months: Anywhere between 4-9 months. I know that's a big range but your body is not a mechanical clock!

Big toenail can take up to a year to fully grow in and that depends on your circulation and if you have other health issues.

Fungal?: Not visualizing the nail, one would assume you're referring to a nail fungus. This is difficult to treat but is treatable and i believe necessary as it is an infection. In europe, they treat with antifungals for the first week of each month for 4 months and the results are just as efficacious as treating everyday for the same time period. The idea is to get the new nail growing embedded with medic.

A 31-year-old female asked:

Will your toe nail grow back after losing it?

Dr. Jeffrey Kass
Podiatry 28 years experience
Maybe: It depends on how you lost it and how traumatic the injury that caused you to lose it. The nail grows from an area called the matrix. If the matrix was damaged then the nail may not grow back or may grow back damaged. Having said that more often than not it will grow back, but not knowing the injury is difficult to say.
