Extremely difficult: One would have to have access to the drugs used for general anesthesia and then abuse these drugs for use other than surgery. Exposure to general anesthesia drugs for the purpose of surgery will not cause one to become addicted.

Addiction: Yes. A patient can become addicted to the agents used for gen anesthesia. In south korea there are patients who are documented addicts to propofol. They feign the need for surgery to get general anesthesia.
