Not always needed: Fever does not always need to be reduced. It is a natural process of the body's immune system as a response to an infection. Many causes of infections including bacteria and viruses do not do well at high temperatures, so a fever can be part of how the body fights off a problem. If someone is uncomfortable with a fever then tylenol, (acetaminophen) Ibuprofen can help. Avoid tepid water baths as can drive fever in.
