Mildly uncomfortable: Endovaginal ultrasound is performed with a long but narrow probe that is slowly inserted after lubrication and barrier protection is applied. It is invaluable for assess early pregnancy and pelvic pathology in a minimally invasive, safe, cost-effective and reproducible way that has transformed obstetrics and gynecology. It should not hurt, nor last more than a few minutes.
