IBUPROFEN, NAPROXEN: Menstrual pain is due to the release of prostaglandins by the body. Their formation can be blocked by taking Ibuprofen (advil, Motrin ib) or Naproxen sodium (alevel and others) at the first sign of pain or even the day before menses are expected.
