Re-assess: You must first be sure the area is not infected. The best way to do this is to make an appointment with your physician. You must also make sure you clean the area as instructed. Be sure the belly jewelry is the right size, as well. Finally, you may not be someone who can tolerate jewelry in that area. You may need to remove it. Make sure there is no infection. See your doctor.

Why does it hurt????: Check for signs of infection: ^'ed redness, warmth, swelling. ^'ed tenderness, pus, red streaking, swollen lymph nodes or fever. Recommend keeping piercing in place unless directed by Dr (if removed – drainage tract will close up w ^'ed risk of abscess formation). Call Dr for medical evaluation. Your Dr may prescribe oral antibiotics or antibiotic ointments to apply to piercing site.
