Variable: Many cases of tbi resolve to normal over time. Some are left with severe disabilities. Most common is epilepsy, mood and behavior disorders, and coordination and balance disorders. A good rehabilitation program can address these issues and provide a means for recovery toward normal. Permanent disability may result, but adaptation is possible.

Depends on location: The effects depend on the area injured. There are some general effects such as fatigue, slowing of mental processing, poor attention and focusing. Other symptoms require knowing what areas of the brain are involved.
