Hard or loose poops: Although babies normally have lots of gas, those with difficulty digesting lactose will have lots of gas along with diarrhea or constipation.

Simple test: If you use the lactose free product of the same formula maker & the kid does well, then returns to having gas/loose stools etc when you use the lactose product, you have a good indication your kid is intolerant to the lactose.
