A member asked:

Does lactose free milk cause constipation in infants?my daugther is 1 yr and she started lactaid whole milk, could this be making her constipated?

Not likely: If the only thing that's changed is the addition of lactaid milk it's a possibilty. It depends on what else baby is eating and was eating before the switch. Breast fed babies usually have soft, frequent stools, so if you just switched from breast, i'd expect stools to be firmer. Make sure she's getting 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables each day and the constipation should resolve.

Too much milk: The amount of milk and or milk products you are giving her may be the cause of her constipation.
