A 39-year-old female asked:
Is it possible for a nursing infant to be adversely affected by dairy in moms diet, but not by the lactose thats inherent in breastmilk? if mom takes lactaid supplements should that negate the effects of dairy in her diet on her baby?

Maybe/not..no: Dairy in moms diet might have an effect on baby, but you would expect the same effect if dairy was fed to them directly. Lactaid supplement only effects the lactose in mothers gut by aiding local digestion. It does not effect the lactose in her breast milk.which would never come in contact with the supplement added to her diet.
