Several ways . . .: . . . But one very simple one is dr. Weil's "relaxing breath" exercise. You can use it in the moment, but practice it twice a day to make it second nature. Destress: Most professionals agree that and clenching and grinding is a manifestation of life stresses. Solve those problems and the clenching goes away. Reduce stimulants such as nicotine, caffeine. Limit overstimulation at bedtime. You may have to find a new job or boyfriend, also.
