During a tonsilectomy, do they dislocate your jaw?

Surgical approach: The mouth is opened up really wide and sometimes the jaw is a little dislocated, especially if the mouth is small.

It can happen: When you are under general anesthesia the muscles are "paralyzed" and all of the opening force is on the joint. It is possible for the joint to become dislocated if it is open wide and for a long time, or if additional forces are applied to the joint. Usually this does not occur, but if it has happened to you or your family, check with your dentist for help / referral to someone who can help.
