Pain: You would have intense pain on the side of the dislocation and have difficulty in executing all activities that require the jaw to move such as speaking, eating, talking.You could also see the dformity caused by the dislocation.

Painless, noiseless : You should be able to open around 48 mm or the height of 3 fingers. There should be no noise and it should be painless. If these don't exist you may have a problem with your joint and these problems do not fix themselves. Seek help from your dentist or a referral to someone that has lots of experience in successfully treating these problems. The sooner the better and easier also.
