When to remove sutures after abdominal surgery?

Ask your surgeon: Most of the time sutures are removed about 7 to 14 days after surgery. It depends on where your surgery was located or if it was under tension or if you have any underlying conditions that may slow healing. Ask your surgeon to be sure.

Abdominal Sutures: After abdominal surgery, many surgeons will remove the skin sutures (or skin staples) after about 7 days. Many times, after they remove these sutures, they might place small tapes, or steri-strips, across the skin edges, to further reenforce the wound for a few more days.
