Perhaps.: Standard liver-related chemistry blood tests can be normal. Early in infection, the antibody test for hcv can still be negative but one may detect hcv RNA in the blood (hcv viral load).

No harm from test: Getting tested is a no-brainer...Why not. Risk behaviors are not the onl;y way to transmit the infection. It can be treated.
