Hep C and B: There are many different types of tests for either, depending on the reason for the test. Tests for exposure to the disease, presence or activity or resolution, and many others to identiy the exact type of virus are are quite accurate. But if there is a "positive" test, it doesn't mean there is an infection.

Blood test for Hep B: Very important question. Tests for Hepatitis B is very accurate but interpretation is sometimes difficult. Basically the tests will tell you if the viral infection is acute or chronic. If test positive for IgM anti- HBc (Hepatitis B core antigen) and positive HBsAg = acute infection. Persistence of HBsAg more than 6 months = chronic infection. Other scenarios exist. Consult specialist for details.
