Parotid gland?: Pain and swelling along the jawline and below the ear sounds to me like it could be due to the parotid salivary gland, which is right there. Could be many things wrong with the gland, from infection to sjogren's syndrome to a salivary gland stone. If it's due to the gland, it'll probably be worse right after you eat, since that's when the gland is stimulated to contract and release saliva.
