Soma, flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl): There are quite a few. I usually use Soma for relatively mild muscle spasm and smaller patients for patients with greater spasm, larger size or having failed milder meds, i'll use Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) 10 mg i usually only have people use them at night due to the sedating effects unless they are home and not driving.

TMJ: Muscle relaxers can be helpful when the TMJ prevents your jaw from opening widely -- otherwise, antiinflammatories (nsaids or prednisone) and/or dental appliances are helpful. This joint may also respond to steroid injection, or, as a last resort, surgical correction.
