Postcoital cystitis: Sometimes women experience urinay tract infections (UTI) as a direct result of sexual intercourse. Bacteria can be pushed into the urethra during sex, leading to increased risk for a uti. If your answer were yes to the dr.'s question, you may have been advised to void as soon as practical after sex. If it is a recurrent problem, you may be given an antibiotic to take after sex.
