A member asked:

My boyfriend took accutane and we are sexually active together. could he be causing my constant urinary tract infections?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes he could: Accutane has nothing to do with it however. The physical act of having intercourse is a common cause of UTI's in women. This is because of the anatomy of women. Bacteria can get in the opening to the bladder easily. It is important to practice good sexual hygiene, namely emptying the bladder soon after intercourse, wiping always front to back, no douching. If it persists see your doctor.
