Starvation mode: Generally we all need 2000-3000 calories a day for yes function...Good calories that provide us nutrition and nutrients that we need to run the metabolism and reserve for any additional work we need. We should eat 3-4x a day. When we eat infrequently and too few calories our body perceives starvation and builds fat reserves and makes it harder to lose weight.
