Depends: Everyone has differing rates of recovery. Generally, the first 2-3 days are intense and then it improves from there. If the pain persists, you may have a condition called dry socket...See the oral surg/dentist immediatelt as this can lead to bone necrosis. The "holes" left behind from the extractions can take 2-3 weeks to heal over, usually during this time, they're not painful, just annoying.

About a week: It really depends on how complicated the procedure was for the surgeon and how well the patient follows post op instructions. In most routine cases the patient is usually back to normal within a week or two at the most.
