A member asked:

What is better for a sinus infection: levaquin (levofloxacin) or septra (bactrium) ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Both can work: Levaquin is an excellent antibiotic for sinusitis, although very expensive and with the rare, but significant side effect of tendonopathy and tendon rupture. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) (septra) is also good, and a fraction of the cost. I culture many of patients sinuses and am consistently surprised the number of bacteria sensitive to bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim).
