Not LIkely: I have never heard of lithium causing panic attacks, although there are always rare possibilities of side effects. However, anxiety disorders, including panic attacks, occur more frequently in people who have bipolar disorder, so it is more likely that the panic attacks are a separate issue from the lithium use.

Lithium: One side effect of lithium is fine tremors of the hands. Toxicity can cause lethargy & convulsions.
