Depends: There are many causes of thick skin, from psoriasis to certain genetic conditions with hyperkeratosis. Thick skin in one area could be simply callouses or warts. Thick skin all over the hand can sometimes impede movement, crack & get infected, or retain moisture. See a dermatologist if it bothers you or if you feel something else is going on.
