A member asked:

How much do people weigh when they got operated on with bariatric surgery?

Depends...: Most physicians and insurance companies use a patient's body mass index (bmi) to determine treatment options. Bmi is calculated using your wt and ht so you can't simply use wt alone in the decision process. Bmi calculator is widely available online.

Bmi of 35-40: The minimum requirements for bariatric surgery are a bmi of 40 (about 100 lbs overweight) or a bmi of 35 (about 75 lbs overweight) with medical problems.
