No, you do not.: Talk to your doctor. Most do not require a birth plan, but will be happy to answer your questions about childbirth. Childbirth classes are a good idea to take. Check with your hospital. A highly detailed birth plan may result in disappointment, since neither the doctor nor the patient has control over what events may transpire during childbirth, only their response to them.
