The chances are low in an otherwise healthy individual. Smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol affect the smallest arteries in our bodies--especially the toes and fingertips. Those individuals are at higher risk of getting infections because of their poor circulation. Check your feet frequently and go to your doctor if there are any concerns.
