No: Lactose is a sugar that is metabolized by the body into cellular energy (atp). Any other sugar, protein or fat can be used to meet the body's need for energy. If your body lacks the enzyme to break down lactose to its component sugars the you are lactose intolerant.

No: If you are lactose intolerant then advance is the recommended treatment. Just make sure you are ingesting adequate amounts of calcium and vitamin d if you are eliminating dairy from your diet.
