Should we see an endocrinologist if i think my child is experiencing precocious puberty?

Primary Doctor First: Your child's primary care provider should be able to determine if your child needs further work-up. Precocious sexual development is when girls start breast or pubic hair growth before age 8 and for boys with pubic hair or genital enlargement prior to 9 years- old. If there remain concerns or questions, please see a pediatric endocrinologist.

Your Pediatrician: Whether a child is precocious or not is best determined by your pediatrician, who will refer you to a pediatric endocrinologist if he belives that is the case.
