Yes.: Intraamniotic infections can cause maternal sepsis (headache, weakness, fever, myalgias) and fetal tachycardia - they are even associated with adverse neurological outcomes such as cerebral palsy in rare occasions. Prompt diagnosis and treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics is likely to prevent major complications.
