Vsd very common: A ventricular septal defect , a hole in the wall between the 2 lower chambers, is fairly common. Prevention would involve avoiding medications during pregnancy and taking prenatal vitamins.

CHD: Congenital heart disease occurs in less than 1% of births. Simple defects such as ventricular septal defect are most common. There is no 'prevention' of congenital defects that is currently known.
