Varies: Babies can be born with a number of heart anomalies, possibly as part of syndrome or prematurity. They can be holes in the heart, abnormalities of the large vesels coming off heart, failure of part of the heart to develop, coronary artery problems, and more. A pediatric cardiologist and cardiothoracic surgeon will evaluate specifics. Anesthesia for these procedures is very specialized.
