Yes..: Keflex in a next generation antibiotic following penicillin etc. It is in a family called cephalosporins. They generally have a broader spectrum of bugs they can control. But it isbest to try the lesser broad spectrum drugs before moving on to the "bigger guns". This way if you truely need something stronger than plain penicillin it'll have a better chance of working well. Earl.

A conditional "yes": Antibiotic therapy may be a useful adjunct in the treatment of dental infections, but it should never be used as a sole therapeutic approach, and should not be used without supervision by your dentist. Antibiotics like Keflex are helpful in bringing a severe, acute infection under control, but are generally incapable of eliminating infection.
