Not enough: Problem with xanax (alprazolam) (and many similar anxiety drugs) is that it wears off. Another problem is that some doctors don't worry enough about this "short"-coming when they prescribe xanax (alprazolam). If you are not controlling anxiety with current dose, going higher adds to the risk that you are going to have even worse anxiety, as the xanax (alprazolam) wears off. This is a bad vicious cycle that you don't want to get into.
