H.pylori test: The 2 most common causes of stomach or duodenal ulcers are infection with the helicobacter pylori bacteria and the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, meloxicam, etc. H.Pylori testing can be done at the time of endoscopy or on blood, stool or breath samples. Large stomach uclers should be biopsies to rule out cancer.

Endoscopy: With biopsies is the gold standard for diagnosing peptic ulcers -and looking for causes like helicobacter although helicobacter can be diagnosed with a blood test as well.
