Be on the safe side: After an ankle injury you should see an orthopedist or a board certified podiatrist to make determine the severity of you injury. Often fractures can be present even though you can walk. It is a myth that 'if i can walk on it then it must not be fractured".

If you cant stand: If the pain is persistant or you can not stand on the foot you should see a podiatrist or orthopedist for an exam.
