Does anyone know the reasons for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura?

Not really: The reason people get idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (itp) is not clear. There are associations with viral infections and some immune system disorders but there does not seem to be an inciting reason for the majority of patients.

Autoimmune disease: Itp is an autoimmune disease and is presumed to be related to increased platelet destruction along with inhibition of platelet production via the production of specific autoantibodies.
