Possibly: Sleeping with a contact can not only scratch your corneas but also result in keratitis. Please follow your ophthalmologists instructions in care of your eyes and use of contacts.

It could: Most common with overwear of a contact lens is a breakdown of the surface of the cornea termed keratitis. Corneal abrasion (scratch) is very unlikely. Best to use the lenses as directed by your ophthalmologist.
