Are hemorrhoids a sign of cancer?

No, but...: ...It is often difficult to distinguish bleeding from hemorrhoids versus bleeding from a colon/rectal cancer. When in doubt, i advise a colonoscopy to determine the source of bleeding.

Careful: No amount of bleeding is normal from the anus/rectum. Although most people assume it is hemorrhoids, you are wiser to see an expert colorectal surgeon and be evaluated. Hemorrhoidal bleeding can be treated and other sources of bleeding need to be evaluated promptly and accurately. Early detection of colon cancer when only bleeding, has 90% or better survival.

No but..: Hemorrhoids are not related to cancer and will not cause cancer. However, patients with colorectal cancer have symptoms frequently attributed to hemorrhoids. Before saying that bleeding or pain is hemorrhoids, you should be evaluated medically.
