How do you heal a collapsed and punctured lung?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pleural catheter: Place a tube to water seal suction in the pleural space. Tube needed may be large or small depending on the amount of air leak. Once the lung is re expanded given no bronchial injury, lung will eventually heal. If persistent air leak that does not resolve in a reasonable time specially if apical blebs or bullae seen on cat scan thorax, blebectomy abrassive/talc pleurodesis may be advised.
