No: Smoking raises the risk for getting a collapsed lung. Some articles say the risk is 20 times higher than that of a non-smoker. A person is more likely to get another pneumothorax if he already had one. Some articles say 25% to 50% of people will get a second pneumothorax after the first one. Putting these two risks together, one can see why smoking would be a bad idea!
