Do i need to starve before endoscopy?

Not really: Upper GI scope, nothing overnight. Colonoscopy- rectal rocketing requires cleansing enemas or golytely, (polyethylene glycol) as well as clear liquids the day prior.

Endoscopy is general: Ly done with sedation which requires having an empty stomach. Pts are advised not to eat or drink after midnight. You may be allowed to take tour meds with sips of water. Check with your GI doctor. For lower endoscopy you have to take clear fluids the day before the procedure and avoid solid foods. Some people may require a 2 days prep. Again, check with your GI doc.
