What can i do if a doctor is charging prohibitive fees for copies of medical records?

Check the law: Each state usually has a law on the books that regulates what a physician or hospital can charge for copying medical records. You can check with your state government to make sure you are not being overcharged. Most providers also will give other providers or patients a free copy of their records.
