Adrenaline: Anxiety causes release of, or is associated with, elevated levels of stimulatory hormones such as Epinephrine and nor-epinephrine. These chemical messengers make contraction of muscle fibers quite more likely; especially those which already may be primed to do so for other reasons, such as high usage rates or pre-existing spasm.
