What is the effect of high levels of luteinizing hormone (lh) on the ovary?

Lh stimulates ovary: High lh levels occur when an ovary is not responding easily to the lh signal from the brain (as in possibly close to menopause). Lh can also be high because of the time in the menstrual cycle it was checked.
