Urgency & discomfort: A bladder spasm is an uncoordinated contraction of the bladder. When it occurs in patients with normal bladder sensation, it causes a strong urge to urinate, sometimes accompanied by pain. In men this pain is sometimes referred to the tip of the penis. Incontinence can occur with each bladder spasm as the contraction forces urine to be expelled.
