Spondylosis means : Degenerative changes of the spine that occur primarily with age but can be accelerated by other factors such as smoking, deformity, obesity to name a few. Genetics can also play a role. Trauma has been shown to accelerate changes including whiplash. Disc surgery will accelerate the process as can a fusion leading to adjacent level changes.
