A member asked:

Is it possible to get off from thyroid medication without negative consequences?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: It depends on whether you are being treated for an over or under active thyroid, and on the severity of the disease. Most people with an under active thyroid need to stay on meds, but many people with an over active thyroid go into remission. If you are being given meds to try to shrink a nodule and your thyroid function was normal, the meds can be (should be) stopped.
